A three-person office on DocuSign’s Standard plan pays $900 a year and can send 300 envelopes between them. The same team could pay $360 a year on SignWell’s Business plan with no document cap, or $288 on signNow’s Business tier. For most US small businesses, the cheapest workable DocuSign alternatives are SignWell, BoldSign, Zoho Sign and signNow; PandaDoc makes sense if you also build quotes and proposals. Prices below are from each vendor’s published information or a dated third-party pricing check, as of October 2026. We have not tested these products.
Envelope Limits and Per-User Prices Against DocuSign Standard
- DocuSign Standard costs $25 a user a month on annual billing ($45 monthly), with 100 envelopes per user per year on annual plans.
- SignWell’s Business plan is $30 a month on annual billing for three senders and unlimited documents.
- BoldSign has a free plan with 25 envelopes a month, the most generous free tier in this list.
- signNow’s Business tier starts at $8 a user a month when paid annually.
- PandaDoc costs more but adds proposals, quotes and templates on top of signatures.
What DocuSign Costs a Small Business
DocuSign does not hide its prices, but the envelope limits catch people out. Signeasy’s DocuSign pricing guide, which says its figures were checked in September 2026, lists these rates. Signeasy sells a competing product, so treat its framing with care; the figures match those on signNow’s comparison page.
| DocuSign plan | Annual, billed upfront | Monthly | Envelope limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal (1 user) | $10/mo ($120/yr) | $15/mo | 5 a month |
| Standard (per user) | $25/mo ($300/yr) | $45/mo | 100 per user a year on annual plans |
| Business Pro (per user) | $40/mo ($480/yr) | $65/mo | 100 per user a year on annual plans |
A hundred envelopes a year works out to about eight a month per person. A contractor sending estimates, a landlord renewing leases or a bounce house rental business collecting waivers for every booking can run through that well before renewal.

The Best DocuSign Alternatives for Small Business
SignWell: Best Flat Price for Small Teams
SignWell’s pricing page lists a free plan with three documents a month and one template. Light costs $10 a month on annual billing or $12 monthly for one sender with unlimited documents. Business costs $30 a month annually ($36 monthly) and includes three senders, unlimited templates and 50 SMS credits a month, with extra senders at $12. Every plan includes API access with 25 free API documents a month, and paid plans carry no per-envelope fees or cancellation fees.
- Best for: offices of two to five people who send contracts every week.
- Trade-off: the free plan is too small for regular business use.
BoldSign: Best Free Plan
BoldSign has the most useful free tier here. Its pricing page lists Essential at $0 with 25 envelopes a month and two templates for one user. Growth is shown at $5 or $15 per user a month depending on billing term, with 50 envelopes per user, and Business at $15 or $25 with unlimited envelopes. A 30-day trial needs no card. Nonprofits get Growth free and 50% off higher tiers.
- Best for: sole traders and micro-businesses with modest volume.
- Trade-off: the page does not label which price is annual, so confirm at checkout.
Zoho Sign: Best if You Use Zoho Apps
Zoho Sign’s pricing page lists a free plan with five documents per user a month, Standard with 25 and Professional with unlimited documents. Signeasy’s Zoho Sign pricing guide, last updated in December 2025, puts Standard at $10 a user a month annually ($12 monthly) and Professional at $16 ($20). The 14-day trial gives Enterprise features to up to 10 users.
- Best for: businesses already on Zoho CRM, Books or Workplace.
- Trade-off: the Standard plan’s 25-document cap per user.
signNow: Cheapest Per-Seat Plan
On its DocuSign comparison page, signNow lists Business at $8 a user a month when paid annually, Business Premium at $15, Enterprise at $30 and Business Cloud at $50 for at least 10 users. It says there is no limit on the number of documents users can sign. Teams can add up to 10 users before needing sales. The free trial is seven days.
- Best for: price-sensitive teams that send a lot of documents.
- Trade-off: Business Cloud bundles extra airSlate products many small firms will not need.
Dropbox Sign: Best for Dropbox Users
Formerly HelloSign, Dropbox Sign has a free plan with three signature requests a month for one user, according to Jotform’s Dropbox Sign pricing guide updated on 14 October 2026. Essentials is $15 a month for one user with unlimited requests and five templates, Standard is $25 a user a month, and Premium is quoted for teams of five or more.
- Best for: businesses that store contracts in Dropbox.
- Trade-off: Standard costs as much per user as DocuSign Standard on annual billing.
PandaDoc: Best for Quotes and Proposals
PandaDoc is a document platform first and an e-signature tool second. Activepieces’ pricing breakdown, checked against PandaDoc’s site on 22 October 2026, lists Starter at $19 a seat a month annually ($35 monthly) and Business at $49 ($65). A free plan exists but caps monthly documents.
- Best for: agencies and B2B sellers who send priced proposals that clients sign.
- Trade-off: dearer than a pure e-sign tool if signatures are all you need.
Jotform Sign: Best for Forms and Waivers
Jotform Sign suits documents that start as forms: intake sheets, consent forms and liability waivers. According to Jotform’s own guide, the free plan allows five signable forms and 10 signed documents a month. Paid plans run from about $34 a month (Bronze, 100 signed documents) to about $99 (Gold, 1,000), billed annually.
- Best for: clinics, gyms and event businesses collecting the same form from many people.
- Trade-off: pricing scales with signed documents, not users.
Worked Example: A Three-Person Team for a Year
Assume three staff each send contracts, and the business pays annually.
| Option | Calculation | Annual cost | Document allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| DocuSign Standard | 3 users x $300 | $900 | 300 envelopes a year |
| DocuSign Standard, monthly billing | 3 x $45 x 12 | $1,620 | 10 per user a month |
| PandaDoc Starter | 3 x $19 x 12 | $684 | See vendor |
| SignWell Business | $30 x 12 (3 senders included) | $360 | Unlimited |
| Zoho Sign Standard | 3 x $10 x 12 | $360 | 25 per user a month |
| signNow Business | 3 x $8 x 12 | $288 | No stated cap |
SignWell and signNow both cost well under half of DocuSign Standard for this team, with fewer volume worries. Zoho Sign matches SignWell on price but caps each user at 25 documents a month. Figures exclude sales tax.
What to Check Before Switching
- Audit trail: open a sample completion certificate and confirm it records IP addresses, timestamps and email verification.
- Integrations: check your CRM, accounting software and cloud storage are supported on the plan you buy rather than only on a higher tier.
- Templates: count how many reusable templates you need; free and entry plans often cap them.
- Signer experience: send yourself a test document on a phone before moving clients over.
- Records: download completed DocuSign envelopes and their certificates before you cancel.
