The new Supernatural costs $20 a month or $200 a year, exactly double what Meta charged for the same VR workout app at the end of its run. The independent version went live in Early Access on Quest headsets on 21 October 2026, according to Road to VR, with a 7-day free trial on the monthly plan and 14 days on the annual one. It is sold only in the US and Canada for now, and the old Meta edition shuts down on 3 December.
That leaves roughly five weeks for existing members to decide whether to follow the app to its new home, move to a cheaper rival or stop paying altogether. The figures below are drawn from the company’s announcements as reported by the VR trade press, and from rivals’ own pricing pages, all as of October 2026.
$20 a Month, US and Canada Only, Progress Transfer by 3 December
- Supernatural now costs $20 a month or $200 a year, up from Meta’s $9.99 and $99.99.
- The annual plan saves $40 a year against paying monthly, and its free trial runs twice as long (14 days against 7).
- Only US and Canadian accounts can subscribe, on Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro.
- Points, streaks, badges and start dates can be carried over until 3 December, when the Meta edition and its subscriptions end.
- FitXR ($107.99 a year) is the closest subscription rival. Beat Saber and Les Mills Bodycombat cost a one-off $20 to $30.
Supernatural VR Price in October 2026, Plan by Plan
The app itself is a free download from the Quest store. Every workout sits behind the subscription. Road to VR lists two plans and two trial lengths; the founding-member deal that UploadVR described on 16 October was open only to people who registered before Early Access began, and it closed at launch.
| Plan | Price (USD) | Free Trial | Effective Monthly Cost | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $20 a month | 7 days | $20.00 | Available |
| Annual | $200 a year | 14 days | $16.67 | Available |
| Founding member, first year | $180 | Not applicable | $15.00 | Closed at Early Access launch |
| Sponsored membership | Free for 12 months | Not applicable | $0 | Up to 100 places, applications to 31 Dec 2026 |
The sponsored places are the least publicised part of the relaunch. Mixed News reported that Supernatural will fund up to 100 full 12-month memberships in its first year back, for applicants aged 18 or over in the US or Canada, with applications made by email until 31 December 2026. Anyone who has stopped exercising because of cost has little to lose by applying.
From $19 to $9.99 and Back to $20: How the Price Moved
Long-time members will recognise the new number. Supernatural listed at $19 a month before Meta bought its maker, Within, a deal Meta completed in February 2023 after the US Federal Trade Commission failed to block it. Meta then cut the price at its Connect conference that year to $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, Mixed News recorded.
| Date | Event | Monthly Price | Annual Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before 2023 | Independent, owned by Within | $19 | Not listed here |
| Feb 2023 | Meta completes Within purchase | $19 | Not listed here |
| Connect 2023 | Meta price cut | $9.99 | $99.99 |
| Jan 2026 | Meta puts app in maintenance mode | $9.99 | $99.99 |
| Jun 2026 | Spin-out to Supernatural Health announced | $9.99 | $99.99 |
| 21 Oct 2026 | Independent Early Access launch | $20 | $200 |
The maintenance-mode and spin-out dates come from UploadVR. The annual plan has risen from $99.99 to $200, a 100% increase (run your own plan through our percentage calculator if you paid a promotional rate). In its letter to members, the company said it needed to return to the original $20 and had not made the decision lightly. That is a fair reading of the economics. A 15-person studio, which is the headcount Road to VR gives for Supernatural Health under chief executive James Senior, now carries the music licensing, coaching and server bills that a trillion-dollar parent used to absorb.
What the Early Access App Includes Right Now
“Early Access” usually signals a thin product. Here the label mostly describes what is still on the roadmap. At launch, according to Road to VR and UploadVR, members get:
- Thousands of workouts: a mix of remastered favourites from the Meta years and new sessions, in the Boxing and Flow formats the app is known for.
- Hundreds of music tracks: the licensed library is back, though licensing is negotiated country by country, which is the main reason sales stop at the US and Canadian borders.
- A new home environment: Laguna Torre, with higher-definition locations promised later.
- Household accounts: up to four people can share one subscription on one headset.
- Weekly drops: the studio says new workouts will arrive every week.
- Founding collectibles: a custom Founding Member bat for those who registered early.
Two features are announced but not live. Supernatural Together, a workout-with-friends mode, is in testing. A companion mobile app will track progress and heart rate away from the headset. Neither has a date. Gagadget, summarising the launch coverage, reports a target of more than 3,000 workouts over time, with music deals setting the pace.
Supported Headsets and Countries
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Headsets | Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest Pro (with controllers) |
| Quest 2 support | For as long as Meta supports the headset |
| Countries | United States and Canada |
| Account | New Supernatural account with its own privacy policy; Meta-era profiles do not transfer as accounts |
Readers in India, the UK and elsewhere cannot subscribe for now, and no other markets have been announced.
Leaving the Meta Version Before 3 December
The Meta edition is no longer searchable on the Quest store, and it winds down on 3 December, when its subscriptions end. Meta still handles billing, cancellations and refunds for those plans. The practical order of operations for a current member:
- Check your renewal date: annual Meta plans that run past 3 December receive a prorated refund around that date, Mixed News reported, so cancelling early saves nothing.
- Install the new app: it is listed separately on the Quest store as “Supernatural – New” and is free to download.
- Start the trial on the plan you would keep: pick annual if you expect to stay, since its trial runs 14 days rather than 7.
- Bring your history across: points, start date, streaks and badges can be migrated until 3 December, Road to VR says. After that the window closes.
- Set a reminder before the trial ends: cancelling inside the trial means no charge.
Is the New Supernatural Worth $200 a Year? The Numbers
Value depends heavily on how many people in the house use it. The household feature changes the maths more than any discount does.
| Scenario | Annual Cost | Cost per User per Month |
|---|---|---|
| One user, monthly plan | $240 | $20.00 |
| One user, annual plan | $200 | $16.67 |
| Two users, annual plan | $200 | $8.33 |
| Four users, annual plan | $200 | $4.17 |
| One user on FitXR annual, for comparison | $107.99 | $9.00 |
Paying monthly for a full year costs $240, so the annual plan saves $40, or about 17%. A couple sharing one headset pays $8.33 each a month, below FitXR’s single-user annual rate. A solo user pays $92.01 a year more than a FitXR annual member.
A worked case: someone who works out three times a week for a year logs 156 sessions. On the $200 plan, that is about $1.28 a session. Skip half of them and the figure doubles to roughly $2.56. Our view is that the monthly plan makes sense for one or two months, to test whether the habit sticks, before moving to annual.
Cheaper Supernatural Alternatives on Quest
Three established apps cover most of what Supernatural does, at lower cost. Two of them have no subscription at all.
Supernatural (Benchmark)

Coach-led Boxing and Flow sessions set to licensed music, in scenic environments. Strongest on guided, structured workouts and on coaching personality. $20 a month or $200 a year, US and Canada only. Sign-up is on the company’s site, wearesupernatural.com.
FitXR

The nearest like-for-like rival. FitXR runs Boxing, Dance, HIIT, Sculpt and Combat studios with more than 1,000 on-demand classes, live multiplayer classes and daily challenges, according to its pricing page. It charges $12.99 a month or $107.99 a year in the US, with a 7-day free trial. Its help centre also lists local prices, which matters for readers Supernatural cannot serve:
| Market | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|
| United States | $12.99 | $107.99 |
| Canada | CA$16.99 | CA$139.99 |
| United Kingdom | £9.99 | £83.99 |
| European Union | €12.99 | €107.99 |
| Australia | A$18.99 | A$161.99 |
Live group classes are something Supernatural has only promised. For a solo user who wants variety, FitXR is the better value on paper.
Les Mills Bodycombat
A martial-arts cardio workout built on the gym-class format, with no monthly fee. It costs $30 on Steam and is also sold for Meta Quest, Pico and PSVR 2; development is paid for through optional DLC such as the $8 Power Strike pack of eight sessions, Mixed News reported. Better for people who want intensity and do not need a new playlist every week.
Beat Saber

A rhythm game first and a workout second, but one that gets players moving hard on higher difficulties. Meta cut its price from $30 to $20 in August 2026, the first cut since its 2019 launch, and the reduction is permanent across Quest, SteamVR and PSVR 2, Road to VR reported. More than 250 extra tracks are sold as paid DLC. No coaching, no workout structure, no subscription.
| App | Pricing Model | US Price | Coaching | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supernatural | Subscription | $20/mo or $200/yr | Yes, coach-led | Households, guided routines |
| FitXR | Subscription | $12.99/mo or $107.99/yr | Yes, class-based | Solo users, variety, live classes |
| Les Mills Bodycombat | One-off plus DLC | $30 (Steam) | Yes, instructor-style | High-intensity combat cardio |
| Beat Saber | One-off plus DLC | $20 | No | Casual movement, rhythm game fans |
Bought together, Beat Saber and Bodycombat cost about $50 once. Two years of Supernatural on the annual plan costs $400.
Who Should Pay for the New Supernatural, and Who Should Wait
- Pay now: households with two or more regular users in the US or Canada, and long-time members who want to keep years of streaks and badges. Migration ends on 3 December.
- Use the trial, then decide: lapsed Meta-era members who left during maintenance mode. Fourteen days on the annual trial is enough to see whether the weekly drops are real.
- Look elsewhere: solo users on a tight budget, who get more classes per dollar from FitXR, and anyone outside the US and Canada, who cannot subscribe.
- Wait: people who mainly want to exercise with friends. Supernatural Together has no release date.
Our read is that the price is defensible but the timing is awkward. Members are being asked to pay double for an Early Access product while the two features that would most justify the increase, multiplayer and a phone app with heart-rate tracking, are still in development. The household plan is the strongest argument for staying. For more practical guides on everyday spending and habits, see our Lifestyle section.
