For three weeks every March, New York and London are only four hours apart instead of five. The United States moves its clocks forward on the second Sunday of March, Britain waits until the last Sunday, and anyone who books a transatlantic call by memory turns up an hour off. The free time zone converter below checks the actual date, so daylight saving time is always applied correctly.

Pick a date, a time and the zone it is in, and you see the matching time in every zone on your list. It starts with your own zone plus New York, London and Kolkata, and you can add any city or official time zone. A 24-hour planner underneath shows which hours fall inside everyone’s working day.

How the Converter Treats DST Gaps and India’s Fixed UTC+5:30

  • Converts one date and time into up to 12 time zones, using the time zone rules built into your browser.
  • Search by city (Mumbai, Austin, Dubai), by official zone name (America/Chicago) or by common abbreviation (IST, PST, CET).
  • Daylight saving edge cases are flagged: times that do not exist on a spring-forward night and times that happen twice when clocks go back.
  • India stays on UTC+5:30 all year, so the gap to New York or London changes twice a year while the clocks in India do not.
  • The meeting planner highlights the hours when every zone is between 9:00 and 17:00 local time.

Time zone converter

Convert a date and time to other time zones. Daylight saving time is handled automatically.

    24-hour meeting planner

Each column is one hour of the selected day in the source time zone. Pick a column to set the time.

Local time in each zone for every hour of the selected day
    Working hours (9:00 to 17:00)Early or late (7:00 to 9:00, 17:00 to 21:00)Night

Uses your browser’s built-in time zone database, so results follow the latest daylight saving rules your browser knows. Nothing you enter leaves your device.

How to Use the Time Zone Converter

    1. Set the date and time: the tool opens on the current time. Change it to the meeting or deadline you are checking, or press Use current time to go back.
    2. Choose the source zone: type in the From box and pick from the list with the mouse or the arrow keys and Enter. This is the zone the time you typed belongs to.
    3. Add or remove zones: type a city in Add a time zone or city. The cross on a row removes it. Your list is remembered in this browser for next time.
    4. Read the results: each row shows the local time and date, the zone abbreviation, the offset from UTC and the difference from your source time. A +1 day or −1 day badge warns you when the date is different.
    5. Plan a meeting: scan the planner for green columns, then tap a column header to set that time. Copy times puts a ready-to-paste list on your clipboard for an invite.

    How the Conversion Works

Every time zone is an offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), and in many places that offset changes with daylight saving time. The converter turns the time you typed into a single moment in UTC, then shows that moment in each zone:

    • UTC time = source local time − source offset on that date
    • Target local time = UTC time + target offset at that moment

The offsets come from your browser’s Intl date and time features, which are built on the IANA time zone database. That database records the history and current rules of every zone, from Asia/Kolkata to America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires, and browsers ship updates to it. Nothing is looked up online and nothing you type leaves your device.

    Worked Examples

We checked each of these in the converter while testing it. In 2026, US daylight saving time runs from 8 March to 1 November, changing at 2:00 a.m. local time, according to NIST. UK clocks go forward on 29 March and back on 25 October, according to GOV.UK.

    Source timeLondonKolkataWhat is going on
New York 10:00, 15 Jan 2026 (EST)3:00 PM GMT8:30 PM ISTNormal winter gaps: 5 hours and 10.5 hours
New York 10:00, 20 Mar 2026 (EDT)2:00 PM GMT7:30 PM ISTUS already on summer time, UK not yet: gap shrinks to 4 hours
New York 10:00, 30 Mar 2026 (EDT)3:00 PM BST7:30 PM ISTBoth on summer time: 5 hours again, India now 9.5 hours ahead
Kolkata 12:00, 29 Oct 2026 (IST)6:30 AM GMT12:00 PM ISTUK back on GMT, New York still on EDT at 2:30 AM until 1 Nov

The same pattern runs the other way in the southern hemisphere. Kolkata 12:00 is 4:30 PM in Sydney in June, but 5:30 PM on 29 October 2026, because Sydney is on summer time (AEDT) while India never changes.

Daylight Saving Edge Cases the Tool Flags

Two kinds of local time cause trouble once a year in any zone with daylight saving.

    • Times that do not exist: on 8 March 2026, New York clocks jump from 1:59 a.m. straight to 3:00 a.m. If you enter 2:30 AM, the converter explains that the time is skipped and shows 3:30 AM EDT, the time a clock would actually read. The planner on that day skips the 2 AM column.
    • Times that happen twice: on 1 November 2026, New York runs from 1:00 to 1:59 a.m. twice, first in EDT and then in EST. Enter 1:30 AM and the tool shows the first one (London 5:30 AM) with a button to switch to the second (London 6:30 AM). The planner shows 1 AM twice.

The same checks apply in every zone: 1:15 a.m. on 29 March 2026 does not exist in London, and 1:30 a.m. on 25 October 2026 happens twice there. Scheduled jobs, payroll cut-offs and server cron tasks set for these hours are where daylight saving bugs usually show up.

    Using the Meeting Planner

Each column of the planner is one hour of the chosen day in your source zone, and each row shows what the clock says in another zone at that hour. Green cells fall between 9:00 and 17:00 local time, amber cells are early morning or evening (7:00 to 9:00 and 17:00 to 21:00), and grey is night. A column header turns green when every zone is green.

With New York and London on 20 March 2026, the shared working window is 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM New York time. Add Kolkata and no single hour works for all three, so the tool names the hours with the most overlap. Teams spread that widely tend to rotate an early or late slot so the same office does not always take the awkward hour.

Tips for Scheduling Across Time Zones

    • Write the zone every time: “Tuesday 10:00 ET / 15:00 UK / 19:30 IST” leaves no room for doubt. Copy times produces exactly this kind of list.
    • Check the date as well as the hour: an evening call from California can be the next morning in India. Watch for the +1 day badge.
    • Recheck recurring meetings in March, October and November: a weekly call fixed in one zone will move for everyone else when that zone changes its clocks.
    • Prefer city names over abbreviations: IST can mean India, Ireland or Israel, and CST covers both US Central and China. A city leaves no doubt.
    • Agree deadlines in one zone: for invoices and deliveries to overseas clients, state the zone on the document. If you bill internationally, our invoice generator and freelance hourly rate calculator help with the money side.

India to US Time Gaps and Finding a Shared Meeting Hour

Does This Time Zone Converter Handle Daylight Saving Time?

Yes. It uses the date you pick, so the right offset is applied for that day in each zone. It also warns you about skipped and repeated hours on the nights clocks change.

What Is the Time Difference Between India and the USA?

It depends on the US zone and the season. India (IST, UTC+5:30) is 10.5 hours ahead of New York in winter and 9.5 hours ahead during US daylight saving time. California is 13.5 hours behind India in winter and 12.5 hours behind in summer.

Does India Have Daylight Saving Time?

No. India uses Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30, all year. The difference to countries that do change their clocks shifts by an hour when they change.

Why Does the Tool Say My Time Does Not Exist?

You picked a time inside the hour that is skipped when clocks spring forward, such as 2:30 a.m. on the second Sunday of March in New York. The tool shows the time a clock would read instead, one hour later.

How Do I Find a Good Meeting Time for Several Countries?

Add every attendee’s city, set the date, and look for green column headers in the 24-hour planner. If there are none, the tool lists the hours where the most zones are in working time.
