Choosing an Event Planning Name Couples and Corporate Clients Both Trust
Event clients hire a planner for the one day they cannot afford to get wrong, so the name has to sound organised before anyone opens your portfolio. A bride’s mother reads it on a forwarded WhatsApp message. A corporate admin types it into a vendor onboarding form with a short character limit. A venue coordinator says it into a headset at six in the morning while the florist is unloading. Each of those people needs to read it once and get it right.
Decide early which events pay your bills. A name like Ivory Thread Events tells corporate buyers you mostly do weddings, and many will skip you. Planners who work both sides often choose a neutral name and run a separate landing page for each audience.
Some words are worn thin in this trade: Elegant, Dream, Bliss, Divine, Eventful, Occasions and anything ending in Creations. Search your city on Google Maps for event planner and you will see the same handful of words repeated down the list. A name built from them gets lost in the map results and muddled in referrals.
Planners rarely have a shopfront, so the name lives on vendor badges, the footer of a printed timeline, a sticker on the hatchback carrying decor boxes, and the small circle of an Instagram profile picture. Short names survive all of these. If your name runs past three words, make sure the first word can stand alone, because that is what vendors will call you.
Local or national plans matter too. A name tied to a city, such as Jaipur Mandap Co, ranks easily in local searches but feels odd when you take a booking in Goa or Dubai. If destination work is part of the plan, keep place names out.
Before you commit, run each name on your shortlist through a few real checks:
- Say it to a venue manager you know and ask them to spell it back.
- Print it on a mock vendor badge at real size, about the size of a credit card.
- Search it with events and weddings added to see who already uses it nearby.
- Ask a past client which name they would recommend to a friend over the phone.

Secure the Planning Brand Before the First Venue Walkthrough
Start with the web address, because event clients judge a planner by the enquiry form. Run your shortlist through the domain name generator and look through the wedding website domain ideas if weddings make up most of your bookings. Buy the .com or your country ending as soon as you settle, plus an obvious misspelling if the name has a tricky letter.
Run a trademark search next. Event and wedding planning sits in the business services and hospitality classes, and plenty of planners have filed marks on catchy names. Search the USPTO database in the US, the UK IPO register or IP India, and look for sound-alikes as well as exact matches.
Then register the business. In India, a sole proprietor can trade under a name with GST registration and a shop licence where the state asks for one, while an LLP or private company needs the name approved by the MCA during incorporation; our guide on registering an LLP in India walks through it. In the US, you file an LLC or corporation with your state, or a DBA (assumed name) if you trade under a name other than your own; see registering an LLP in the USA for the state filing route. In the UK, Companies House rejects names that are the same as an existing company and restricts sensitive words, so search the register before you file.
Grab matching Instagram and Pinterest handles, since planners get many enquiries through visual platforms. Set up a Google Business Profile with a service area instead of a home address, add real event photos, and ask your first few clients for reviews. Get a logo that works in one colour, because it will end up on vendor badges, run sheets and favour tags.
Build quote and deposit invoices with the name on top using the invoice generator, and keep the business name generator open if your first choice turns out to be taken.
Spotting Planner Names That Clash with Venues or Vendors
These problems tend to surface after the cards are printed.
- Names that lock you into one event type. Bridal or Shaadi in the name puts off the HR team who would have booked you for the office Diwali party.
- Names that sound like a venue. The Grand Pavilion Events sends guests hunting for a hall that does not exist and can irritate a real venue with a similar name.
- Copying the title of a well-known wedding magazine or blog. Those publishers often hold trademarks that cover events too.
- Puns that look wrong on a corporate purchase order. Party Animals suits kids’ birthdays and reads badly on a bank’s vendor list.
- Your first name alone if you plan to hire. Clients will ask for you personally at every event your team runs.
- Words like Certified or Accredited when you do not hold the credential behind them.
- Spellings with swapped letters, such as Eventz or Partee, which break every referral made by voice.
