200 Travel Agency Business Names Tested on Luggage Tags and Itineraries

Two hundred travel agency business names sorted by trip type, with advice on licensing and registering the name you pick.

Saying a Travel Agency Name Over a Phone Booking

Travel customers hand over passport scans and large advance payments to an agency they may never visit, so the name has to sound like a business that will still answer the phone after the tickets are issued. Much of the time your name is spoken: on a booking call, by a hotel front desk confirming a reservation, or by a customer telling a cousin who arranged their Char Dham trip. Read each candidate down a phone line to a friend and see whether they can type it into a search bar first time.

The trade is crowded with tired words. Tours and Travels, Holidays, Getaways, Wanderlust, Globe, Voyage, Explore and Paradise appear on hundreds of listings in every city. Search travel agent on Google Maps near your office and note which words show up more than twice on the first screen. Keep them out of the main part of your name.

Specialism sells better than breadth for a small agency. A name that hints at honeymoons, pilgrimages, school trips or corporate travel tells customers why to call you instead of booking online. If you expect to move between niches, put the specialism in the tagline and keep the name broader.

The name will sit on printed itineraries, luggage tags, a WhatsApp Business profile, an airport pickup placard and a narrow field in a supplier’s booking system. It also goes on invoices that corporate finance teams match against GST or VAT records, so the trading name should match the registered name as closely as you can manage.

A city in the name helps with walk-in customers and local search, but an agency selling Bali packages from Pune does not need Pune in the brand. If you hope to sell online across the country, choose something that does not tie you to one town.

Check the shortlist against licensing too. Several US states, including California, Florida, Washington and Hawaii, require agencies to register as a seller of travel, and the registered name appears on that record. IATA accreditation, which lets an agency issue airline tickets directly, is applied for under the legal business name. Pick a name you are happy to see on those certificates and on the receipts customers keep.

Register the Agency and Its Seller Credentials Next

Lock down the domain first. Customers search an agency name before paying a deposit, and a missing or mismatched website looks risky. Try variations in the domain name generator and browse the travel blog domain ideas if you plan to publish destination guides alongside your packages. Register the .com and your local ending, such as .in or .co.uk.

Search trademarks in the travel services class with the USPTO, the UK IPO or IP India. Travel brands file marks often, and an online travel company with a similar name can force a rebrand after your brochures are printed.

Register the business under the same name. In India, an LLP or private company needs MCA name approval before incorporation, covered in our LLP registration guide for India; many agencies also seek Ministry of Tourism approval, which is voluntary but helps with corporate and government clients. In the US, file an LLC or corporation with your state, or a DBA for a trading name, and then complete seller of travel registration where your state or your customers’ states require it. In the UK, Companies House checks the name, and if you sell package holidays that include flights you will need ATOL protection from the Civil Aviation Authority.

IATA accreditation usually comes later for a new agency, because it asks for financial security and trained staff. Until then you can book flights through a consolidator or host agency, and your trading name still appears on the customer’s documents.

Claim matching handles on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp Business, set up a Google Business Profile with your office address and opening hours, and order a logo that stays readable when printed small on a luggage tag. Prepare quote and booking invoices with the invoice generator. If the name you wanted is taken, the business name generator will give you fresh combinations to test.

Avoiding Agency Names That Promise Trips You Cannot Sell

  • Airline, airport or hotel chain names inside your brand. Borrowing a carrier’s name implies a partnership and invites a legal letter.
  • Words like Official, Approved or IATA in the name before you hold the approval. Regulators and customers both treat that as misleading.
  • Names that sound like a large online booking site. Customers chasing refunds will call you about bookings you never made.
  • Place names you will outgrow, such as Goa Tours for an agency that expects to sell Europe within a couple of years.
  • A trading name that differs from your seller of travel or ATOL record. When the brochure and the registration disagree, customers suspect a scam.
  • Spellings like Travelz or Tourz that fall apart when said over a booking call.
  • Pilgrimage names that use a deity or shrine name carelessly. Some temple trusts object to commercial use of their names.
