Catering Company Names: 200 Ideas With Logo Previews

Two hundred catering business name ideas grouped by the work you do, with advice on testing, registering and avoiding risky names.

Naming a Catering Company That Wins Event Bookings

People booking a caterer usually have three quotes open at once. They are office managers, event planners or couples, and they want to know your event size and food style before they open the menu. Long Table Catering sounds like a seated dinner for 150. Desk Lunch Co sounds like sandwiches for an office of 30. Both are good names for the right caterer.

Gourmet, Delights, Divine, Taste of and Cuisine are worn out in catering. Kitchen and Table are common too, though they still work when the first word is distinctive.

A catering name has to work in more places than most food businesses.

  • The side of a van, read at a loading bay or a venue gate. Keep it to two or three words in large type, with the phone number underneath.
  • Buffet signs and chafing dish labels, where a short name or monogram looks tidy.
  • Printed and PDF menus sent with quotes. A long name pushes the menu down the page.
  • Google Maps. Many caterers cook in a commercial kitchen with no walk-in customers, so they list as a service-area business. The listing name must still match your registration and signage.
  • An app icon or WhatsApp Business profile, which fits one word or two initials.

Think about range before you commit. Tandoor Table brings direct bookings for Indian food and makes a pasta bar order a harder sell. A broader name with the cuisine in your tagline gives you room to change the menu.

Local versus national matters less in catering, since almost every caterer serves a radius around one kitchen. A town name is safe if you never plan to open a second kitchen.

Test five names with real buyers. Send a one-page sample menu under each name to office managers or wedding planners you know, and ask which one they would forward to a client. Then search each name with your city on Google and on the wedding directories you plan to use.

From Catering Name to Licensed Business

Look up the domain first, because planners check your website before they call. Our restaurant website domain ideas work well for caterers, and the domain name generator finds variations if the .com is taken.

Search the trademark register in each country you work in. Restaurant groups and food brands register their names, and a near match can cost you the van wrap. Use the USPTO, the UK IPO and IP India.

Register the business and the kitchen.

  • India. You need FSSAI registration or a licence, depending on turnover. If you form an LLP or company, the name is approved on the MCA portal first.
  • US. Form an LLC or file a DBA with your state, then get the county or city health permit for your commercial kitchen. Our guide to registering an LLP in the USA covers the business side.
  • UK. Register as a food business with your local council at least 28 days before you start trading. A limited company name goes through Companies House, which blocks names that match an existing company.

Claim the social handles and set up a Google Business Profile with photos of real events you have catered. Order the logo, van livery, buffet signs and an invoice template for deposits and final balances. Use the free invoice generator for deposit and balance invoices, and the break-even calculator shows how many events a month cover your kitchen rent. If you also want a mobile unit, see our food truck name ideas, or try the business name generator with your cuisine and town.

Catering Names That Confuse Event Planners

  • Venue names. Naming the business after a hotel or hall you cater for suggests a partnership you do not have, and the venue can object.
  • Certification words without the certificate. Halal, Kosher or Organic in the name tells guests the food is certified. Organic is a regulated term in the US, UK and EU.
  • Celebrity chef echoes. A name close to a TV chef or a famous restaurant invites a legal letter and comparisons you do not need.
  • No hint of catering. Saffron & Salt alone reads as a restaurant. Add Catering, Dining or Events on the van and in the Google listing.
  • Names that are hard to say on the phone. Many bookings start with a call, and a name that needs spelling out slows every one.
  • A postcode or estate in the name. It shrinks your radius in the minds of planners from the next town.
  • Joke names for wedding work. A pun that wins office lunch orders can put off couples spending thousands on one day.
