Cleaning Business Names: 200 Ideas for Home and Office Cleaners

Two hundred cleaning company name ideas, from domestic maid services to commercial contract cleaners, with naming and registration advice.

What Clients Look for in a Cleaning Company Name

People hire a cleaner to come into their home or office while they are out. The name has to sound trustworthy before it sounds clever. Customers look for three quiet signals in a cleaning company name: that you are local, that you are insured and organised, and what kind of cleaning you do.

Decide early whether you clean homes or commercial sites. Office managers and property agents search for words like “facilities” or “commercial”, and a name like Sparkle Sisters will not get you onto a tender shortlist. Homeowners respond to warmer names that sound like a small team they could meet.

Sparkle, Shine, Spotless, Fresh and Pristine are the most worn words in this trade. Search your area on Google Maps and you will probably find several companies using each one. Pair one of them with an unusual second word, or skip them.

Your van is the biggest advert you own. A name of two or three short words can be read from a passing car along with a phone number. Long names force a small font, and the phone number is what people actually need to see.

  • Check that the name and number fit on a van side panel at a size readable from 10 metres.
  • On Google Maps, your listing name must match the van and the invoices. Stuffing in “Cheap End of Tenancy Cleaning” breaks the listing rules.
  • Booking apps and directories cut names off after about 20 characters.
  • If you plan to franchise or cover several cities, avoid a town name. A single-area operator can use the town to win local trust.

Test the shortlist the way a customer would meet it. Say each name as if answering the phone (“Good morning, Clearwater Cleaning”). Mock it up on a van photo and a uniform polo. Show the mock-ups to five past clients or neighbours and ask which company they would let hold a key.

Getting Your Cleaning Company Registered and Online

Book the domain first. The domain name generator shows .com and country endings for your name in one search, and the domain name ideas pages have more patterns if the obvious one is gone. A short domain also needs to fit on the van under the phone number.

Search the trademark register for your name in Class 37, which covers cleaning services. Franchise brands in this trade defend their marks hard, and a cease-and-desist letter after the van is wrapped costs more than the wrap.

Register the business:

  • India: an LLP or private company name has to be approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs through the MCA portal before incorporation. Our guide to registering an LLP in India covers the name step.
  • US: file an LLC with your state, or file a DBA with the county if you trade as a sole proprietor under a different name. Many commercial clients will ask for your liability insurance certificate in the business name.
  • UK: a limited company name must pass Companies House rules, which block names identical to existing ones and restrict sensitive words. The guide to starting a cleaning business in the UK covers insurance and DBS checks too.

Take the same handle on Facebook, Instagram and Nextdoor. Local cleaning work often comes through neighbourhood groups, so the handle matters more than a big following.

Create the Google Business Profile as a service-area business, which lets you hide your home address and list the towns you cover. Ask your first ten clients for reviews in the first month.

Order a logo that still reads in one colour, since van vinyl and embroidered uniforms often use a single colour. Set up an invoice template with your registered name and payment terms before the first job. For more name ideas from your own keywords, use the business name generator.

Cleaning Names That Sound Cheap or Generic

  • Gendered names. Names with “Maids” or “Sisters” can put off commercial clients and limit who you hire.
  • Franchise lookalikes. Several national cleaning franchises hold trademarks on common word pairs, so a name close to theirs invites legal letters.
  • Chemical claims. “Eco” or “Green” in the name sets an expectation that every product you use is non-toxic, and customers will ask.
  • Names that sound like a single task. Oven Heroes is hard to grow into a full-house cleaning service.
  • Phone-unfriendly spelling. Kleen or Klean saves no space and confuses callers when you spell out the email address.
  • Jokes that cheapen the price. A pun can work for domestic cleaning but may cost you a commercial tender worth far more.
